I would like to welcome you to our company website. Our men and women are constantly training to better serve our community. They respond to fire calls as well as calls for medical service 24hrs a day, seven days a week, including holidays, on a volunteer basis. They do a terrific job. I would also like to thank our surrounding mutual aid companies who are Rosendale, Bloomington, Rifton, New Paltz, and High Falls for the invaluable assistance they provide us at fire calls each year. We have had a lot of training over the winter including an Ice Rescue drill on Sturgeon Pool in Rifton, and Air Pack Mass Confidence drill at the City of Kingston Fire Dept., several smoke drills at our firehouse, ladder training, nozzle operations, as well as an actual interior school bus fire drill. We have a multi-agency Mass Casualty drill scheduled at our firehouse for May 8th, 2010. Our truck drivers have re-certified on the equipment they operate. The commissioners have purchased great new turnout gear for many of our firefighters and now have a program in place to keep updating the firefighters with turnout gear. Several of our new firefighters have signed up for EMT school.
We have done a great deal of training this year on school bus accident extrication thanks to some buses that we were given to cut up and burn by Arthur F. Mulligan. Bill's Auto Service and Chilcott's Towing helped us move the buses around.
We are always looking for new members and I would like to invite anyone interested to join our ranks. Junior member applications for young men and women 16 years of age are also welcomed and encouraged. Applications and instructions are online here in the menu at the left.
Our Ladies Auxiliary unit is now up and running. Anyone interested in joining can contact Kim Hermance(845-658-8248) or MaryEllen Costa(845-658-9178). The firemen are very thankful and appreciative of the effort the ladies are putting into this. Please sign the guest book page here on our website and feel free to contact me at rhermance@tillsonfiredept.com with any questions you have about your fire department.
